About the Role

Are you an experienced technology leader with extensive experience working in a financial trading or brokerage environment? Would you like to play a pivotal role scaling up the engineering capability and driving both the strategic and technical direction of the business? Can you demonstrate a track record of delivering innovative solutions that drive business performance? Do you have experience of working in close partnership with key business stakeholders across the front and middle office to identify and define future opportunities and requirements?

This high-profile role will form part of the technology leadership team and be tasked with delivering a step change in how technology is delivered and consumed across the organisation as the successful candidate you will own the strategy, roadmap and delivery of central platforms (e.g. Securities Master, Market Data plant, Trade Repository, Quant Lab) that accelerate every stream. Partner directly with the CTO, senior business leaders and functional heads to prioritise, sequence and deliver services that power growth, innovation and acquisitions and set the standards for secure, reliable, scalable systems in a highly regulated, high-throughput environment.

A selection of your key responsibilities and deliverables will be:

  • Enterprise strategy & roadmaps: Define the strategic direction for the Engine Room and adjacent architectures (Neon, AI, Data, Portal). Communicate clear roadmaps that show how we’ll deliver at pace.
  • Prioritisation with the business: Work closely with the CTO and senior stakeholders to align on priorities, trade-offs, and outcomes. Turn business needs into initiatives and epics with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Platform provisioning at scale: Design and deliver shared services and tooling used across all business-aligned teams—driving standardisation, re-use and speed.
  • Right-sized, high-performing teams: Agree structure and resourcing levels with the Business Owner. Build an entrepreneurial culture that ships quality, on time and on budget.
  • Rationalise and modernise: Identify opportunities to simplify and consolidate platforms and vendors—prioritising existing systems when appropriate and ensuring cost-effective service.
  • Vendor leadership: Own strategic vendor delivery including large, vendor-centric programmes; ION knowledge would be preferred.

To be considered you will be able to demonstrate extensive trading/brokerage software and technical architecture experience combined with proven partnership with Front Office and senior stakeholders; you will be a strong communicator and influencer.Full trade lifecycle knowledge: pre-trade, trade, settlement/clearing, risk—front to back, hands-on experience with trading technologies (pricing, risk, algo) across asset classes. Deep knowledge of vendor systems in cross-business service layers; large-scale delivery and standard setting. Agile product leadership; entrepreneurial, delivery-focused mindset. Track record architecting secure, reliable, scalable platforms and software.

In return we offer a competitive basic salary, benefits package, performance related bonus scheme and exceptional career progression and development for the right candidate,The position is offered on a hybrid basis but given the seniority and expected impact more time will be spent in the office than at home.
